Happy Friday! I know it's not really a special day but it's the start of a bank holiday weekend here in the UK and has been a long and busy week, so time to celebrate the end of it. For this weeks family holiday feature I am daring to suggest a family stay in London. With five children I find staying in a city a great adventure but also quite daunting as often the only option is a hotel. And how many hotels in London really do welcome children? Sadly not that many, as doormen glare and receptionists scorn the screaming toddler. However I may have found a haven for families in London. The Athenaeum, in the heart of Mayfair, welcomes families and even has a Kid's Concierge. Now that is impressive but the warm welcome for families does not stop there.
With a choice of family rooms, adjoining rooms, suites and family apartments, The Athenaeum seem to go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible and not daunting at all for young guests. A small amount of research prior to your stay will ensure there are books, films and food that your children love. No more boring hotel room leaving children glum when you stay at this hotel. There is also a fantastic team of nannies on hand to entertain your children so that you can enjoy the Sunday papers and coffee in peace or an evening meal out without endless trips to the toilet or appologising to the table next to yours for your three olds obsession with poking their toungue out at them! Oh yes, I have been there several times over the years and feel your pain.
As if all this wasn't enough, earlier this year The Athenaeum teamed up with the famous children's enterainers, Sharky & George. Guests can book their very own Sharky & George member of staff, who will create a bespoke itinery bursting with fun. Working with the Kid's Concierge team, Sharky & George will find out about your childs likes, dislikes and hobbies to then send you a booklet full of ideas to entertain the whole family. Perhaps they would enjoy a Documentary Making Class, reporting outside the Houses of Parliment or from locations that were used in the Harry Potter films? Or maybe your children would prefer an arts and crafts session at The Serpentine Gallery or a treasure hunt around the capital city or an afternoon of experiments as mad scientists? With Sharky & George dreaming up the itinery one thing you won't be short of is fun!

So have you braved the big city with your children? Having researched this post I know it now seems less daunting staying in the city with my tribe!
Have a fantastic weekend,
